An American Friar, Provincial, and eventually the Franciscan Minister General, Basil Heiser was always a brother and a father to the Conventual Friars. Friar Wayne Hellmann remembers that he always encouraged others to be their best. He died shortly after his 100th birthday (when he celebrated Mass and preached the homily).
